With the rise of technology, people that understand the inner workings of a machine are able to exploit it. People that use this to cause chaos and steal data or money are often called hackers. Now days, these individuals are knowladgeable enough to the point where they can manipulate an ATM for their own gain. A person like that can simply withdraw money from the machine without any confirmation. This is because of outdated operating systems running on the machine.
