How drug gangs work?
Drug gangs rely on addicted drug users, which create 90% of the groups demand. The same heavy users are then converted to dealers paid in some percent of drugs sold. These dealers are all controlled by one or more bosses. Leaders of a drug group are generally serious and treat running a gang as a real job. Most drug gangs use violence to impose their position. Buyers, other drug gangs and a groups own dealers will be reminded of the gangs position in the form of physical assault. Gang fights and other forms of violence attract the attention of authority and drug dealing is directly connected to the policing of drugs. When one drug gang is arrested, another one will always take its place and take over their territory. This effect can potentially create monopolies where one group controls a whole city and when that happens more violence occurs, the profits of the group are increased and corruption becomes a real problem.
