Controversial change in Twitters blue verification tick
Following Elon Musks acquisition of Twitter one of the first changes said to release is a change to the well recognized blue tick. The staple blue tick was a sign that an account was authentic and was only given out to well known people involved in the online space. Elon Musk after buying twitter not only laid off most of the workers of the company, but has said that the way you get verified will change. In certain countries the blue tick will be a subscription based feature costing roughly seven pounds. Many find this change awful because the blue ticks purpose was to signify an original account and solve the problem of fake profiles, but now it will be possible to buy yourself the verification status without being an influential person.
I think that this change is a quick way for Elon Musk to get back some of the money he spent on buying Twitter. I don't find it probable that this is supposed to do anything else than makeing Twitter profitable.
