Man who inspiered the film The Terminal has died

Form 1988 to 2006 an Iranian man had been stuck in an airport in Paris. Mehran Karimi first flew to Europe to find his mother and after being expelled from Belgium, the UK, The Netherlands and Germany due to not having proper documents he went to France and lived at Paris Airport for eighteen years. In 2004 his story inspired Stephen Spielberg to create a movie now known as The Terminal. Mehran spent eighteen years of his life sleeping on airport benches and writing about his life in a notebook. Despite being able to leave the airport in 1999, the Iranian man stayed at the airport until 2006 when he was taken to hospital due to an illness. He returned to the airport a couple of weeks ago and lived there for the rest of his life.

Personally, I enjoyed the movie a lot and find the story of Mr Mehran very interesting. I think there is no other person on Earth who can say he experienced something like Mehran.

  1. The movie was very good indeed, largely thanks to Tom Hanks, who played the main character.
